Spelling Games
SPARKLE:
- Line up the class
- Announce a spelling word
- Each student says one letter on the spelling word
- After the last letter of the word is said, the next student says "Sparkle"
- The student in line after the student who said "Sparkle" has to sit down
- Keep spelling words until all, but one student is sitting down. The last student standing is the winner
- Create a battle ship sheet with three columns labeled A, B, and C and three rows labeled 1,2,3
- Have students fill in four of the squares with spelling words (these are their "ships")
- Play the game like you would regular battle ship
- Each student takes turns calling out a letter and a number to identify a square. If there is a spelling word in the square, the student who called that square has to correctly spell the word in order to "sink" their opponent's "ship".
- Play continues until one player has "sunk" all the "ship" of the other player
